Hello, my name is Pearl Phillips and I am a senior journalism student at the University of Minnesota Duluth. I was a part of the team that went to Marbleseed at the beginning of the year and I loved meeting farmers from all walks of life and recording their stories. My grandfather was a feed corn and soybean farmer in central Iowa and that farm holds some of my fondest childhood memories. In many ways, being a part of Cultivating Change has made me feel closer to my late grandpa because i’m sharing untold stories like his.

Hi, my name is Caleb Olson I am a senior at the University of Minnesota Duluth studying journalism and Women, gender and sexuality studies. I am excited for this project as many of my family members are, or were raised by farmers in northern Minnesota. I am excited to be diving into the miss conceptions of farmers and breaking down all of the great work they do for America.
